Face Mask Favorites
It’s no secret... I’m kinda obsessed with face masks... like just went to Sephora the other night to pick up mascara and ended up spending $100 on face masks kind of obsessed. But this obsession is as of recent, because my skin has changed since having kids, or turning 34, or just being tired all the fucking time... I dunno... one of those three... or all of them probably. I realized this past year that I want, correction, I NEED to be taking better care of my skin. Skincare has taken a priority in my life and I’m kinda proud of myself for doing so (now if I could just figure out how to drink more water I’d be a solid 8.5 in the skin department).
With all that being said, I thought I would share some of my favorite masks and why I use each one for what. Please note, I am not a dermatologist. I’m just a 30-something mama that feels the need to give her skin a little TLC… cause unlike a fine wine, it doesn’t get better with time.
I use this almost every day in the morning right after I wash my face. I leave it on while I get my boys ready for the day. PS If you’re not masking and multitasking, then you’re just not doing life right (thank you Lindsey Regan Thorne for this valuable lesson). It just makes getting a good “masking” in so much easier. I neeeeed to be drinking more water, but after I use this face mask it instantly feels hydrated and smooth... oh, and it smells fantastic! It’s an easy application, with a gel like substance, where it’s not too scary if your kids wake up and see you in it.
I have an oily/dry skin combo, and it instantly hydrates and tones. Remember when you would get sunburned as a kid and your parents would slather you in No-AD aloe vera? Cool… just me? Anyway… this is like the grown up version of that… without the slimy green residue ;)

My favorite word in the description on the jar is “decongesting”. I’m not going to lie, I will get a few creepers out of my skin once I use this... cause it’s pushing all the impurities out... and the clean freak in me lives for that feeling! But a quick breakout is worth it, for clear skin post. I feel like since using this once a week, my breakouts have actually reduced over time. I’m in love with this product I even have a travel version I bring on the road with me :)
I typically use this early on in the week, so if I do get a lil’ breakout, it’s all clear by the weekend. The one downfall to this mask is the thickness, and the ability to turn any wash cloth jet black. This stuff is super thick and it doesn’t want to leave your skin unless it has to. Just beware prior to using, it will take a little bit of work to get it off once your done… but again… so worth it!

Do you drink? Do you drink wine? Do you drink wine like it’s Gatorade? Do you drink wine like it’s Gatorade and then go to bed without having a drop of water cause you keep telling yourself “I’m fine!” only to wake up the next morning and every inch of your body is craving water??? Yeah, then you need this thirst quencher of a sheet mask in your life... you know, so those rough times when “Gatorade” was involved you can give your skin some relief.
I absolutely ADORE sheet masks… when I’m alone… completely by myself… where no one can see me while the Jason theme song plays in the background (that one was for Jenny & Pam). Sheets masks are awesome, and super hydrating, but let’s be real... they are scary as fuck!

Maybe I just like this mask cause I’m that fancy… but let’s be real if it contains gold, then it has to be good… right? In all honestly, I use this every time I get back from trip and feel like my skin needs a little pick-me-up. It goes on super smooth, and though it’s somewhat thick, I use a warm wet washcloth… and it come right off. My skin is left smooth, hydrated, and not oily at all. I love this mask and feel as though the price matches the value you’re getting.

If you get anything from this post... please be sure to give these a try. I’m obsessed with these eye masks and always have them on hand or in my travel bag. All you need is 15 minutes. So, I’ll leave them on while I do my hair and before I apply my makeup. They are by far the easiest and quickest way to give those bags a quick pep talk. They contain retinol, and provide a wrinkle free surface for me to apply my make-up on… so I LOVE them!

Last but not not least... let’s talk about water. I know this isn’t a face mask, but none of these masks would work quite as well if I wasn’t hydrated. I’m not really a granola “organic-y” kinda person who raves about all the natural benefits water has to offer... by when I focus on drinking tons of water my skin just looks so much better.
So get yourself a face mask, and some wine, followed up with a large glass of water, and take 15 minutes to relax and give your skin a little love... you fucking earned it!
